1. About PTA Membership
Philanthropic Technical Association (PTA) is a community of technology leaders committed to driving social change in Kolkata and West Bengal. Membership is a privilege that comes with both benefits and responsibilities. This policy outlines the terms and conditions governing PTA membership.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for PTA membership, applicants must:
- Be a technology professional, leader, student, or organization in a relevant field
- Have a valid email address that can be verified
- Complete the profile information accurately and truthfully
- Agree to abide by PTA's code of conduct and membership policy
- Be at least 18 years of age (except for Student tier with guardian consent)
3. Membership Tiers
PTA offers the following membership tiers:
- Student (S): For students currently enrolled in technology or related educational programs
- Professional (PR): For working technology professionals across industries
- Partner (PT): For industry partners, consultants, and collaborators
- Organization (OR): For companies, institutions, and non-profit organizations
4. Application Process
The membership application process involves:
- Creating an account and verifying your email address
- Completing your profile with accurate information (100% completion required)
- Selecting an appropriate membership tier
- Agreeing to this membership policy
- Submitting your application for review
All applications are reviewed by PTA administrators. We reserve the right to approve or reject applications at our discretion without providing specific reasons.
5. Membership ID and Card
Upon approval, members receive:
- A unique membership ID in the format: PTA-[TIER]-[YEAR]-[CODE]
- A digital membership card accessible through the portal
- Listing in the public members directory (with limited information)
Your membership ID is preserved during renewals and serves as your permanent PTA identifier.
6. Membership Validity and Renewal
Membership terms and renewal:
- Membership is valid for one (1) year from the date of approval
- Members will receive notification before membership expiry
- Renewal applications must be submitted before or after expiry
- Renewal is subject to review and approval
- Your original membership ID will be preserved upon renewal
7. Member Responsibilities
As a PTA member, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information in your profile
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Conduct yourself professionally in all PTA activities and interactions
- Respect fellow members and their privacy
- Not misuse PTA membership for commercial solicitation without authorization
- Report any misuse or violations to PTA administrators
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
8. Code of Conduct
Members must adhere to the following code of conduct:
- Treat all members with respect and professionalism
- Avoid discrimination based on gender, race, religion, nationality, or other protected characteristics
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information shared within the community
- Do not engage in harassment, bullying, or intimidation
- Give proper credit and avoid plagiarism
- Act in the best interest of the PTA community
9. Termination and Suspension
PTA reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for:
- Violation of this membership policy or code of conduct
- Providing false or misleading information
- Engaging in activities that harm PTA's reputation
- Non-renewal or expiry of membership
- Request by the member to terminate their membership
Members may appeal termination decisions by contacting PTA administration within 30 days.
10. Directory Listing
Active members are listed in the public members directory with:
- Name and profile photo (if provided)
- Job title and company
- City and state
- Membership tier
- Verified badge (if applicable)
Private information (email, phone, address) is never displayed publicly.
11. Intellectual Property
All content, logos, and materials on the PTA membership portal are the property of PTA. Members may not use PTA branding without prior written authorization. Content you submit (profile information, photos) remains your property, but you grant PTA a license to use it for membership purposes.
12. Limitation of Liability
PTA provides this membership portal "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the portal or membership. PTA is not responsible for the actions of individual members or third parties.
13. Changes to This Policy
PTA may update this membership policy from time to time. Members will be notified of significant changes. Continued use of the membership portal after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
